The 50-meter-high Tumagiti waterfalls

Rainforest Waterfalls—Located at an elevation of 1800 feet on the slopes of Mount Isarog, the Consocep Mountain Resort became renowned as a nature retreat within the rainforest, situated in one of the wildlife frontiers of the Bicol Region in the Philippines.

As soon as you take your first step into the resort, the forest's sounds envelop you: the cicadas' hisses, the birds' squeaks, tweets, songs, and the rushing, dropping, and cascading of water in the waterfalls. These sounds will ruffle your hair as the adrenaline coursing through your veins elevates your spirit.

Consocep Mountain Resort could be the highlight of your mountain journey to the slopes of Mt. Isarog, as it allows for a side trip to the Camarines Sur Deer Farm in Sta Cruz, Ocampo, where you can interact with ruse deers. Additionally, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys surrounding Mount Isarog.

Managed by the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, Philippines, through the Provincial Tourism Office, Consocep Mountain Resort welcomes visitors daily without any entrance fee. Guests must register with the park gate attendant to log their visit.

How To Get Here:

  1. From Naga City, drive or ride to Hanawan, Ocampo, Camarines Sur.

  2. Upon reaching the Hanawan barangay proper, take the left turn road to Consocep. Ask the residents for directions.

  3. Continue driving on a winding road until you reach a resort called SMDP. Stop there and ask where you can park your car. Then, ask them where the entrance path to Consocep Park is.

  4. You will start the trek inside the forest resort from the gate.

Attractions

  1. Tumagiti Falls

  2. Kawa-kawa Falls

  3. Bulalakaw Falls

Tumagiti Falls

Tumagiti derives its name from the local word "tagiti," which means a light rain shower. When water cascades from the top, it creates a sprinkle-like effect near the falls, reminiscent of "tagiti." Experiencing this while standing close to the falls led the locals to name it "Tumagiti."

Kawa-kawa Falls/Pool

The name Kawa-kawa originates from the crater formations in the solid rock, where water accumulates, creating a spot suitable for bathing or swimming.

Kawa is a large frying pan traditionally used to prepare food for large gatherings during special occasions. The term kawa-kawa means resembling a kawa. In the lower area, you can enjoy swimming in the chilly water, while in the upper section above the water, you can slide down the rock into a smaller, kawa-shaped rock formation. Here, you can lean against the rock and experience a sensation similar to a back massage.

Bulalakaw Falls

Bulalakaw Falls is the third destination at the Consocep Mountain Resort that you should explore to complete your hike within the rainforest. The name "Bulalakaw" translates to "shooting star."

The water tumbling from the top of the falls' rock wall sparkles and resembles shooting star sparks as it descends to the ground from above.

To make your visit worthwhile in terms of effort and time, you must explore all three locations within Consocep Resort. For those visiting Consocep Mountain Resort for the first time, ensure you see the three main attractions: Tumagiti Falls, Kawa-kawa Pool, and Bulalakaw Falls. Follow these directions:

  1. Upon entering the gate/passing through the gate attendant, follow the pathway straight ahead. Never take any right turn going down. It will lead you to Tumagiti Falls. Once you reach Tumagiti, cross the stream, passing through the boulder stones.

  2. Upon crossing, you will see the pathway to the right side; follow it, and it will lead you down to the Kawa-kawa Pool.

  3. Cross the stream again to get to the other side.

  4. Upon reaching the veranda and rest area on the other side, you will see another pathway to the left side (if you are facing the ravine going up).

  5. Follow that pathway straight ahead without making any left or right turn again. Keep going until you reach the ladder steps in an almost vertical downward position, where you hear the loud sound of the cascading waterfalls. That’s the Bulalakaw Falls.

  6. Return to the same pathway on your way back until you reach the Kawa-kawa Pool again.

  7. Do not cross back the stream. You will see to your left side a ladder-step pathway going up; follow that pathway, and you will reach the same path you passed when you entered the Consocep Gate.

  8. Upon reaching the main pathway, take the left turn, and that’s it; you are back at the entrance.
